Guest:Very comfortable beds /room. The architecture of the building is beautiful. Hosts were fantastic, had lots of good suggestions of the area and willing to help out/they are very kind, down-to-earth people.

Guest:My husband, myself and 12 week old baby stopped at this hotel on Saturday night. Our hosts were very welcoming and happy to point us in the direction of some local pubs for a drink and bite to eat. Unfortunately as we hadn't made a reservation we couldn't get in any, but our hosts were more than happy to provide crockery and cutlery for our takeaway. The shared lounge area was great for relaxing in. The room and bathroom were both spotlessly clean. We also absolutely adored the architecture and grand staircase. The views across the water were lovely too. You can't fault this place, I'd definitely recommend.

Guest:I have been to Barrow In Furness many times, but this is the best place I have stayed in so far. A lovely hotel with a lot of character and lovely hosts too. The snooker table was a big bonus for my son and I and helped us pass the hours in the early evening before bed. All in all a great little place to stay and a joy to be away from the regular hotel chains where we usually stay. Also the Wi-Fi worked a treat so no sulky son was a massive added bonus too :)

Guest:A most convenient hotel on Walney Island, part of Barrow-in-Furness. We stayed here for a week and it did not disappoint. The place is easy to find from the railway station: just walk on and on down Abbey Road until you reach the Jubilee Bridge, then cross the bridge and turn right. It will be on a slight slope on your left-hand side. Victoria House is an old town house in Vickerstown, dating from 1906. Old as it may be, it has all mod cons and is well insulated. The room had a fridge, water kettle and hair-dryer. The heating turned on at 8:30 every morning. The bathroom was very spacious and stylish: there was a shower, a basin and a free-standing bath tub. The rooms are cleaned daily between 1 and 2PM. We partook of Continental breakfast once; it was certainly not bad, but The Ferry being a five-minute walk away, we preferred a cooked breakfast on subsequent days. The owners are knowledgeable and helpful. I had last stayed on Walney nine years previously at the long-defunct Brow Head, and it was reassuring to note that old-style quality hotels still exist on the island. They left extra packets of milk in the room when they noticed I had used them all up. This is the kind of attention to detail I appreciate.
