I’ve stayed here several times now when in Chelmsford for work. Lovely place, nice staff, rooms are fab and reasonably priced. A short drive to a park and ride into Chelmsford so perfect for me!
Will definitely stay again and recommend!

The room was very clean with a mix of modern and traditional facilities. Nicely renovated bathroom. The staff in the pub were very friendly and the food was excellent. A great choice of local beers and the food was delicious. Love the large beer garden.

Had a fantastic stay here. Ate in the garden in the sun. Beautiful classic pub with a fantastic selection of beers.

The compasses inn is a hidden gem. It is far from any main roads and has been voted one of the best pubs for many years. Dining is uncoventional in that you have to choos from many options from a blackboard (rather quaint). The staff are extremely freindly

Absolutely fantastic small country pub, excellent Camra award winning beer and cider collection, friendly staff and great room.

This is a busy country pub with great food and real ales. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable, i will definitely stay here again.

Authentic, rural pub.
Was very busy the eveningbwe stayed but the staff were very fruendly & efficient.
Dinner was great, pub food extremely well cooked & delicious!
We also enjoyed an excellent breakfast, cooked & served by a friendly & super efficient member of staff.
A great pit-stop for us.
