The cleanliness was acceptable; however, the overall property feels quite old. Some stair steps are unsafe due to broken wood, requiring guests to be extremely cautious. The hotel is also not luggage-friendly and is not recommended for travelers with large suitcases.
The room shown on the booking application appeared very appealing, featuring a private outdoor onsen; however, the actual room did not match what was advertised. In my view, the property’s overall rating is overrated. For the same budget, we have experienced other ryokan that offered significantly better amenities and service.
We raised our concerns about the discrepancy between the room and the booking photos, but the manager insisted that it was not their responsibility, stating that the Trip booking platform was not their partner, and no solution was offered. Communication from manager was so poor, and there is clear room for improvement in customer service and guest communication.
Additionally, we requested dinner at 7:00 pm but were informed that dinner service was only available between 6:00–6:30 pm. We also asked for a slightly late checkout after 10:00 am, which was also declined. None of our requests were accommodated.
Overall, the experience was disappointing and, unfortunately, quite a shame.
