I had a mixed stay. The good? The staff are lovely overall. The property & gardens are beautiful. Breakfast was delicious. The bad? Unfortunately my room wasn't ready at check in time, which I usually wouldn't be upset about apart from having paid a high rater due to it being holiday season. Skeleton staff was to blame (due to the holiday season) but in my opinion if you're not able to accommodate guests don't charge them top dollar, OR limit the number of rooms on offer, OR at least call the guests in advance to let them know the time their room will be ready, given that you ask the ETA of arrival. I did receive a glass of bubbles on the house due to the inconvenience and I certainly wasn't upset with the front desk agent who was very apologetic as this is more a managerial problem. Once I did get access to my room (90 minutes later) I discovered I didn't get the room type I booked. I got an accessible room, which was one of the categories of rooms on offer at time of booking. I don't like accessible rooms so I chose the standard guest room. If the only option was accessible I would not have booked to stay here. This may be an ******* issue rather than Spicers issue however I highly recommend calling ahead to ensure you'll get the room type you've booked.

A beautiful place to stay in a scenic location. The grounds were spectacular and the Long Apron restaurant was lovely. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the bathroom, with spa bath, was fabulous. But their biggest asset is their wonderful staff!

Charming property and staff. Very comfortable. Easy access to Montville and Maleny. Lovely grounds and views over the lake if you don't mind a walk.

Tres tres fantastique! Je l’adore. This was amazing- the staff are wonderful, the experience was fantastic- the room was so nice - so ‘frenchie’ right how I like it. The food was also 5 star. I could not fault Spices.

From the moment we arrived, the peaceful atmosphere made it feel like a true hideaway. The grounds are stunning, with gardens and a relaxing vibe throughout. Our room was comfortable (although possibly feeling a little outdated maybe), lovely touches that made it feel extra special. The dining experience was top-notch, with delicious food and a warm, welcoming team.

I had read many of the reviews prior to us going for a milestone wedding anniversary, so was expecting something sensational. However, our stay of two nights was a mixed bag, ranging from outstanding to disappointing. Firstly, the staff in the restaurant were wonderful. Friendly, knowledgeable, courteous and accommodating. The food was very good, although the Peachester lamb was weird. However, the Peachester lamb sausage I had for breakfast was excellent. Also, to run out of the fish of the day was disappointing. Regarding the accommodation: the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was a good size, but.... . Having previously managed accommodation facilities comprising hundreds of beds, I have a keen eye for noticing the condition and cleanliness of accommodation. Our room failed in this regard. The floor needed vacuuming, the toilet seat was broken, the bathroom grouting needed attention, the shower rose came loose and pest control is needed. I would have thought a facility such as this would have a planned maintenance and painting schedule. There was a nice little garden area adjacent to the shower, with beautiful peace lilies growing. However, the ambience of the garden was totally spoilt because of piles of dead leaves. The room we were in did not lend itself to being quiet. We could hear plumbing noises late at night and early morning. We did not get to see any of the gardens as it rained pretty much the whole time we were there. As I mentioned at the beginning, the saving grace was the staff - among the best I have encountered. We are pleased we went, but doubt we would go again.

Spicers for the win A wonderful stay at Spicers. Beautiful property, with professional staff who genuinely seemed happy working there and were superb in looking after us. Great food at the Long Apron, short stroll to town and wonderful scenery meant we had a peaceful and enjoyable stay.

My wife and i recently had our first wedding anniversary at Spicers Clovelly Estate, and we had such an amazing time. It was extremely relaxing, the rooms were fantastic, extremely comfortable with a very cozy vibe. It did rain heavily throughout the weekend while we were there, and to be honest we think it made the place even more beautiful. The staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful, which made the stay even better. I could not highly recommend the restaurant enough, food and wine were amazing and made it hard to leave. All round an amazing weekend away, and look forward to going back.
