We stayed at Sophie’s B&B for 4 nights. She was charming and very friendly and helpful. The room had a wonderful view out over the countryside. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

Very clean room, with a lovely deep bath and fresh milk provided for drinks. Delicious cooked breakfast included served by a friendly professional team. Great village location; we would be very happy to stay here again.
We’ve been staying here for a number of years on our annual trip to the Great Yorkshire Show. It’s a perfect location in a small beautiful village setting. Sophie is the most fabulous hostess, friendly and kind and so welcoming. We have stayed in the shepherds hut and the B&B twin room and rate both very highly. Breakfast, coffee and cakes are delicious and I even have Sophie’s wonderful cook book at home. I can highly recommend staying and we will look forward to returning next July. Thank you Sarah & Nick
We originally tried to book Sophie's B&B for Friday and Saturday, the 11th and 12th of July 2025, while attending the Great Yorkshire Show. Unsurprisingly, due to the popularity of the event, the main accommodation was fully booked. However, Sophie was incredibly helpful and offered us the alternative of staying in the on-site shepherd’s hut. Admittedly, we were initially hesitant about this option. When we arrived—after spending the hottest day of the year at the show—the hut was extremely warm as the windows had not yet been opened. We aired it out by leaving the windows and doors open while we visited the nearby Joiners Arms (very friendly pub). By the time we returned, the temperature inside had settled and was much more comfortable. We noticed that a top sheet was missing from the bed, but after texting Sophie, she responded promptly and the sheet was waiting for us when we got back from our evening out. The hut itself was a pleasant surprise—spacious, thoughtfully equipped, and very comfortable. The bed was excellent, and amenities included a fridge, kettle, tea and coffee, a TV with a selection of DVDs, and a lovely private outdoor seating area with stunning views. Although the rope separating the public area from our private space was missing on arrival, Sophie quickly noticed and reinstated it. The separate private bathroom was clean, well-maintained, and equipped with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The only issue we encountered was the inability to lock the bathroom door, but Sophie assured us that a locksmith would be called to resolve it. Breakfast was included in our stay and was absolutely superb. While tempted by the Olympian breakfast (a larger portion), we found the regular breakfast more than sufficient. Ingredients were of excellent quality and cooked fresh to order. Steve, Sophie's partner, took our breakfast orders and was attentive with tea and coffee top-ups. Despite our initial reservations about staying in the shepherd’s hut, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book it again. A small welcome pack with local recommendations might enhance the experience further, but overall, Sophie went out of her way to ensure we had a pleasant stay—nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area, especially during busy periods like the Great Yorkshire Show, we will definitely be returning, and staying in the hut again.

Great taster stay! Sophie was very hospitiable, excellent choice of food, Breakfast was brilliant, and the room and bathroom very clean.

Lovely place to stay, Sophie and the staff are really welcoming . Very good breakfast and really clean, beautiful location. We would stay again any time we are in the area. Highly recommended. Also Sophie's cakes are delicious. Pub nearby handy for evening meals.
