Lovely boutique hotel. Fantastic location in old town . Beautiful courtyard restaurant with excellent food. Breakfasts were a particular highlight!

This small boutique hotel in a quiet side street in Galle Fort township was a real gem Only 7 rooms with 4 upstairs, it has all the character that larger hotels often lack We were upgraded free of charge to an upstairs rooms with views over the town ….not great views but this is a very old town with an eclectic mix of old and new Staff were fantastic, helpful and cheerful which rounded out a great stay in Galle The entrance and dining area is a mini rainforest that helps to get you away from the often busy town It’s an older building with lots of character and to modernise it would be a shame. Rooms are large enough to be comfortable and the upstairs rooms have a balcony Highly tecommended and we would come back again without hesitation

Mango House is a great place to stay within the Fort at Galle. Property is at a premium in this area so the room was smaller and more expensive than others on our holiday in Sri Lanka. That said, it was still nice and the breakfast was a treat. Great location for exploring as you can walk anywhere you need to with the Fort.

Until the last day of my 5-day stay at Mango House, I would have given this sweet place a perfect rating, but one person made all the difference, and not in a good way. First, the hotel itself is great: colorful, charming, and perfectly located. The room is small but cozy, with a nice bed and roomy bathroom and shower. The food in the restaurant is excellent; everything I had I would have again. Second, most of the staff were fantastic. Pradeep was particularly helpful; when there was a communication mixup with the third-party booking agent, he cleared things up quickly and graciously. He also offered helpful recommendations and assisted with drivers and tours, and checked daily to see if I needed anything. The problem came on my last full day. That morning Pradeep was off so I gave my laundry to the desk clerk, Usman, at 9am. He assured me it would be done by the end of the day so I wouldn't have to leave the next morning without clean clothes. That afternoon at 6pm I saw the bag with my laundry sitting by the desk and asked if it was ready. It turns out, it hadn't been done at all because the machine was broken. Had Usman let me know this earlier in the day I could have arranged for my laundry to be done elsewhere, but by the time I found out, it was too late. Later that evening I was enjoying a lovely dinner and live music at a nearby restaurant when I started getting multiple phones calls, voicemails and text messages from Usman using two different numbers accusing me of checking out of the hotel without paying my bill. I finally had to interrupt my dinner to respond and tell him that I had not checked out, I was at dinner and to kindly let me enjoy my last evening in Galle Fort in peace. When I returned to the hotel, Usman said, "Sorry, it was someone who looked like you who checked out." (Note: I am a short white woman with a shaved head. There are only 7 rooms at Mango House and none of them had another white woman with a shaved head in them.) Before accusing me of running out on my bill, all Usman had to do was check my room and he would have seen that all my things were still there. It was an unfortunate note on which to end an otherwise perfect stay. Galle Fort is a beautiful little town and with the exception of the one staff issue, Mango House is a beautiful little place. I hope the hotel provides Usman with some good customer service training; more thoughtful customer awareness would have been helpful.

Mango House is located in the heart of Galle Fort making it easy to walk around the Fort to various sites. It’s accomodation that wouldn’t suit everyone - very eclectic , bohemian chic with some amenities requiring repair (eg shaky toilet). I was in the double bed balcony room which was small but for a solo traveller it was perfect. I found the linen, towels and room were all clean. There is an aircon and a fan in the room that work well. The courtyard is part of the onsite restaurant which I didn’t eat at on account of having a stomach bug from a previous location. Service is mostly good and attentive. The place suits solo and young travellers.

I ended up changing hotels because I wanted a room for four people. By the way, even when I cancelled my reservation, they were very understanding and it was an easy interaction. However, we stopped by for drinks and appetizers one night and I really loved this hotel. There was a lot of nice energy and the food/drinks were excellent. I really would like to come back and stay here one day.

Beautiful and comfortable
Beautiful place and very friendly and professional people. Nice welcome with cold towel and Mango-juice. The room was clean and with aircondition. I can recommend this place!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Mango House. We stayed for 3 nights and the breakfast is the best we've ever had, huge portions and really tasty - especially the Sri Lankan breakfast! The restaurant is also fantastic. Pradweep the manager was so helpful and very generously moved us rooms which really enhanced the experience. We will definitely be back if we come back to Sri Lanka!

Great position in Galle, nice ambience and friendly staff. The breakfasts were lovely. Pradeep the manager was extremely helpful, suggesting activities and places to visit and organising on our behalf. Bed was comfortable with mosquito nets and a really hot shower.
