The rooms were lovely shame we didn't know the restaurant and bar in the hotel would be closed beforehand. We seen it on the web site the day we were arriving and thought it was our rooms as well as the pub itself. As we had a child with us we struggled to go anywhere for a drink unless we were eating.
Heading down to Gretna for some Xmas shopping and had seen the hotel on four in a bed , we popped in to a warm welcome, a tremendous selection of drinks and an almost full pub, yet they found us a table, the food looked amazing, and plentiful, definitely need to try it out the next time, only soft drinks today, but we will definitely be back as the hard working staff can't do enough for you. Why not a five star ?, no ginger beer, however everything else is five star. Looking forward to returning for an overnight and some food.
We enjoyed our anniversary weekend at the Black Bull. Staff were most helpful. Our accommodation was excellent, very comfortable and clean. A wide selection of tasty food available for our evening meals. Can strongly recommend the Black Bull.
Attentive staff, historic building , clean, comfortable and well equipped rooms spoilt by rather cramped accommodation. We felt it was expensive for what was offered, there’s no designated parking and no breakfast! Shortcomings are partially compensated for by large TVs, good Wi-Fi and bottles of water but we felt a bit short changed.
Excellent Sunday carvery. Selection of 3 different roasts and big selection of vegetables. The apple crumble, custard and ice cream was the best I’ve ever tasted! Good value for money. Lovely atmosphere and very helpful, friendly staff made our evening
The Black Bull exceeded our expectations - so clean, so convenient, so comfortable, such nice food and such helpful people. I'd say it was a perfect base for a break and to visit Moffat. We stayed for two nights over the weekend and hope to return sometime soon.
Lovely well positioned old pub with accommodation, sadly not open very long due to staff limitations but worth a visit. Food was tasty, we had Sunday lunch but pub was closed all day Monday so we couldn’t eat again there. Would have been nice if they did breakfast too
My favourite place to eat when in Moffat, never lets us down, arrived and managed to get a table as really busy, from first entering and throughout our meal, excellent service. Meal was excellent, home made pie of the day (steak and Onion) with thick proper gravy, and not to mention the Banoff pie with ice cream, again outstanding, ( sorry could not wait to taste before taking photo). Would definitely recommend, excellent friendly service.
