I stayed in ROOM 3 OVER THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD I wished i has looked at the room before i paid and i may have changed my mind about staying The room had damp on the walls paint flakeing and black mould starting a the back corner of the shower and when you go in the shower at first you can smell the damp Also i was there 4 night and only two little things of milk and a started toilet roll which did not last the 4 night i used the tissues. also you need a better cleaner as dust round the edges ,hope she could pick up my sock pieces My son found the the Stirling Arms as we some times have lunch there when i am down so i felt i could not complain as it would have spoilt our time together small room no where to sit no coat pegs for coats such a small wardrobe in all you are not value for money It is a shame and you are so close to my son as i am often down i have chosen i leave feed back on trip adviser as you have not bothered to contact me , your manager took my complaint on the phone 716 pounds was very loaded for a room like that

Rooms are entered and exited on an outside ‘fire escape’ stairway at the rear of the property. Door into a very cramped area leading to the rooms. Small room with metal shelved cabinet, so nowhere to hang clothes. Shower room with high window which can’t be opened. We were booked in for two nights, but left after one night. No breakfast available, so too much money for a very inadequate room.

I was booked in at a far more corporate looking hotel in Hove but was offered the room at The Sterling Arms at the last minute and I'm glad I switched. It just looked and felt "so much more Brighton". Not everything went flawlessly - for example, the room wasn't ready on arrival - but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a pint on the house or the charm of the super friendly staff. Room 1 had everything you could possibly need although it did come with the odd design fault. Like the wash basin which is impossible to use if you just want to splash your face with water. Or the shower taps which required some basic Tetris skills to have hot water from above. Technically, therefore a 4.5 rating but the overall experience was more 'excellent' then merely 'very good'. Recommended.

Here for a drink with friend. Very hungry, Can spend. If within reason, A look at the menu - not as expensive as a few of the others but NOT cheap. Cheapest thing was Chips (no thank you, I eat well) at about ￡5... Then a bunch of starters at around ￡9 or so. Result: I PASS. i regretted staying for drinks because i was starving. I guess it is hard to tell whether opportunism is clever or not. BUt something tells me anyone who knows how to shop knows the bill is not going to be cheap - the food nice but nothing extraordinary , ultimately a pub. Plenty of other choices with great food for less than a tenner

I love small and charming places like this and I prefer them to big hotel chains where everything is so uniform and boring. In that lovely b&b you have plenty of nice touches, super comfy bed and funky artwork. The staff is very nice also. I would really recommond it
