Lovely stay. 10 minute walk from Matlock Bath station. Friendly staff member, easy check in. Lovely room, very clean and large. Wifi. Very chilled evening in after exploring the Lights of Abraham. Easy check out. Near bus stops. Heater in room to keep warm. Lovely little extras, flip flops and chocolate. Could have had access to restaurant,bar and breakfast. Had we wanted. Good value.

Checked in around 6pm no problems, but that was the last time I saw any staff. Shabby, dated decor and the whole hotel reeks of stale cooking oil. The room itself was poky but passably clean. Despite advertised breakfast hours of 8am-10am, everything was locked up at 8.45 so I had to check out and find it somewhere else.

Visited 25th October and struggling to understand the previous review ! Welcoming reception I Stunning decoration. Used the bar, just had desserts as eaten earlier and they were delicious. Booked breakfast had full English in the lovely tastefully decorated breakfast room . Two suggestions to improve - usb sockets in room and a choice of milk for breakfast. Will stay here again

Very comfortable room. But no one on reception in the morning. No breakfast was served. Door to breakfast room was locked. Simply extraordinary to run a hotel with no staff on site, not to mention no breakfast for guests.

Excellent quiet location on the outskirts of Matlock Bath. Plenty of parking. Beautiful views of the cliffs. 10 minutes walk from all the attractions. Room was modern but had character, tea and coffee in room, smart tv and plenty of hot water for the power shower.

Very friendly and efficient staff. Free car parking and WiFi. Nice bar, restaurant and general areas. Our room was nice but bathroom in need of refurbishment. Basic breakfast that can't really be classed as continental. Good location and would stop again.

We booked up for the night so we could stay over after the Christmas Market in matlock. Reception was friendly. Good parking,free WiFi and nice and warm when entering. We were given a very small attic room with en suite shower room. A bit difficult getting into bed with the slope of the ceiling so be careful not to bump head or shoulders. Room was clean and warm.Bedding was clean but mattress was very firm and base creaky so quite uncomfortable .Tv was a bit too small to see from the bed. Kettle in room with tea and coffee. Fan and a heater provided in the room. One chair, a hanging rail for coats. Clean Towels and chocolates left in the room. A little soap, shower gel and shampoo were provided. Bar was nice and relaxing. Good selection of drinks. Nice to see a family run place with their child laughing and playing in the dining area. Booked in for breakfast but skipped it due to us being tired and wanting to get home so can't comment on that. If you just need a place to bed down for one night at a cheap rate then it may be for you. No frills.

The manager or owner was very welcoming. He seemed to be running it by himself. He checked us in and kindly advised that the happy hour had 5 minutes left so we quickly dropped our bags in our room and headed back to the bar and he then went behind the bar to serve our drinks. Later on he came to take our food order and then he brought it to our table later. He was incredibly hard working but very friendly and helpful. The meal was fabulous as well. Our room was compact but we were in the attic room I think. However, everything was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. There were big fluffy towels on the bed and there was even a chocolate on top of them both! There were also a generous amount of tea and coffee in the room and two packets of biscuits too. You don't often get that in more expensive hotels.
