I have stayed in the Lakes over the last 30 years and what a hidden gem, room had amazing views, the breakfast was perfect, well done chris and Vic for all your attention to detail. I can't wait for my next visit and enjoy your breakfast again.
We booked this guesthouse on a whim after deciding upon The Lakes as a getaway for NYE. The location is spot on; 10 mins walk down to Bowness Bay and its attractions and 20 mins walk up to Windermere. The hosts are the most accommodating we have come across and cannot do enough for you; the breakfast was second to none on both days (and the smoked salmon and eggs on NYD was a lovely touch). Rooms are lovely: warm and clean with comfortable beds. There is space for hanging clothes, ironing facilities and a space for muddy boots! The fact there is private parking at the back was a welcome facility as parking can be a further expense. What a wonderful stay we had!
A lovely twixmas break in Bowness, warm welcome at the Hazeldene. Spacious room, very comfortable beds. Quality freshly cooked breakfast. Hosts Chris and Victoria couldn't do enough for us. Will definately return. Perfect central location too.
We just had an amazing time at this lovely B&B. Chris and Victoria were the perfect hosts! Rooms spotless with some really nice extra touches. Situated 5 min walk down to the lake, shops and restaurants along the way. Breakfast was one of the best we've had. I would definitely recommend staying here and will be back in the future. Excellent stay at Hazeldene. This was a last minute decision to visit the Lake District and was pleased we chose Hazeldene as it was in a perfect position for travelling around the Lake District and also for visiting the lake and restaurants in the evening. Safe private parking was good and hosts Chris and Victoria were lovely. Room had everything we needed with excellent facilities. Stayed in room 2 which had a lovely lake view and the advantage of the time of the year the changing colours of the trees. Breakfast was good (especially loved the fruit salad). Quality of the breakfast ingredients was very good and breakfast set us up for the day. Look forward to visiting again in the Spring.
We had a great 3 day break. Lake view so great. The hosts are really pleasant and attentive. Breakfast very good. Would recommend. Handy for lake cruises,walks and good places for eve meal.
The Hazeldene is a lovely cosy B&B, with host great hosts, Chris & Victoria. The provide spotless rooms and a fabulous breakfasts. Their local knowledge is vast. Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay and will definitely be back. Wanda & Paul
This is a small adults only guest house! Its run by Chris and vicky the most welcoming and friendly owners! Ideal as its so close to everything in bowness! They catered for myself being Vegan when my wife is not, breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was superb! The hotel is spotlessly clean, lovely fresh towels everyday! Our room (room4) had lake views! We would never stay anywhere else in bowness and cant wait to go back! Thank you so much for making this our best holiday ever in the lake district! Roger and claire
Great place to stay just at the top of the main street Chris and Victoria are great host nothing is a problem for them and only a call away if needed The room was spotless the breakfast is just what’s needed to set you up for the day we only had the cooked breakfast but there was cereal and fruit and yoghurts if you wanted. We had a wonderful stay and will be going back .

Chris and Victoria, the new owners (July 2025) are so very welcoming and friendly. Their local knowledge is invaluable when planning what to do each day. Our room was immaculately presented including TV, WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities, an iron+ironing board, fan, hairdryer etc. They are very eco friendly and this was reflected in the bathroom products. Each room has its own car park space at the rear of the building, very welcome in Bowness! Our room was at the rear of the building with a nice view out over the lake and it was extremely quiet at night. In the morning you can have a full English breakfast if you so desire with everything cooked to order. Delicious! Everywhere in Bowness is within walking distance including the Lake Steamer pier and the ferry across the lake.
